Creed is a Knockout


While there are thirty-one days left in 2015 with Star Wars: The Force Awakens still to be released, Creed is my favorite movie of the year. This spin-off also serves as a sequel to Rocky Balboa and does everything it needed to do and beyond.

Michael B. Jordan is outstanding as Adonis Johnson, the son of Apollo Creed, and Sylvester Stallone damn near steals the film as the character he brought to the silver screen.

The Rocky movies are such a staple in pop culture that I always forget that the original film won the Oscar for Best Picture in 1976. Some are wondering if Creed is the final chapter or a new beginning for this franchise.

It certainly makes for a great finale, but it’s also a great way to tell more stories in this cinematic universe. $42 million during its first five days of release along with a very positive word of mouth will give the studio enough incentive to make a sequel.
