Not much is known about what J.J. Abrams has planned for the next Star Wars film. Rumors are circulating, but those are even few and far between. This is a good sign that everyone in the creative process is on the same page in keeping things quiet. I have a theory about one major thing that will occur in Episode VII. Darth Vader will not only be in the movie, but he will be a major part of the story.
I have absolutely nothing to back this up with. My gut tells me that Disney really wants him in the film. It would be an instant cash grab to introduce the Sith lord to a new generation of fans. Besides, everything in the Star Wars universe revolves around Darth Vader, and finding a smooth and plausible explanation for his resurrection is the key ingredient in making this work.
My imagination is running wild with all sorts of ideas on how this could be accomplished. Maybe the Ewoks are really Sith lords, and they put Luke Skywalker under some sort of force hypnosis and snatched Vader’s body before he lit the fire? A longer time ago, in a galaxy far, far, away, George Lucas penned his original draft of Star Wars titled “The Star Wars.” Concept art and bits of information about the characters have been released over the years. Thanks to Dark Horse Comics, an eight-part comic book series has been released with the first three issues already in circulation. Some will find this concept intriguing, while others might not care because, after all, it is a rough draft and the prequels were rough enough. However, I’m going to tell you why you should be reading this series if you believe in the ways of the force.

Star Wars #4 | Writer: Brian Wood | Art: Carlos D’Anda | Colorist: Gabe Eltaeb | Cover: Alex Ross | Publisher: Dark Horse Comics | Price: $2.99
Personally, this is one of my most anticipated titles of the month. Brian Wood has done something very special here. He expands on the mythos that make this franchise so amazing while keeping its familiar and celebrated voice firmly intact.
In the Shadow of Yavin, the Rebels are looking for a new base location, but the Empire shows up at every turn and every scouting mission. This leads Leia to conclude that a spy is among their ranks.
Wood’s script shows a perilous sense of danger for the rebellion because no matter how many secret protocols are created, a fleet of Star Destroyers appears in the blink of an eye. Leia runs out of options, and you start to feel that she may never find a new home base.
That is a testament to how well this book is constructed because you know they eventually find the planet Hoth, yet it completely sucks you in. Han and Chewie’s escape from an imperial garrison on Coruscant while flying through the planet’s lower levels. Everything about the chase, from the dialogue to the art direction, made me feel that I was watching this unfold in a movie.
I’ve said it for the last three issues, and I’m going to say it again. If you are not reading this series, you are doing yourself a huge disservice as a comic book or Star Wars fan. Read it now!!!

Dark Horse returns to the Legacy saga of Star Wars and follows Ania Solo, Han and Leia’s great-great-granddaughter. This takes place 138 years after “A New Hope,” which frees the creative team of any continuity issues.
Corinna Bechko and Gabriel Hardman are renowned for their work on the “Betrayal of the Planet of the Apes” series because of their strong character work gave real and meaningful stakes for everyone involved. That trend continued in this opening installment of a new legacy.

It is a great time to be a Star Wars fan. J.J. Abrams is directing Episode VII, Han Solo, and Boba Fett will reportedly get their own film, and Brian Wood knocked it out of the park with last month’s debut issue that captures the true essence of this franchise and has gone back to press for a 3rd printing.
Deception clouds the Rebel Alliance as a spy is rumored to be lurking about. Princess Leia has been charged to assemble a stealth team to flush out the mole so they can find a new hidden base.
Dark Horse has published Star Wars comic books since 1991. The company made a lot of waves last week with the release of their new ongoing series written by the critically acclaimed Brian Wood. Star Wars #1 sold out in less than 24 hours, and a second printing has already been ordered.
Marvel Comics was the first company to publish Star Wars comics in 1977. This particular treasure was hiding out at my local comic book store, and it was interesting to read through it for a variety of reasons.

I honestly don’t even know why I’m about to share this story except for the fact that it gets a laugh out of everyone, and my wife thinks it would be good to tell. Besides, it’s Star Wars related, so it kind of works with the blog.
To say I took things too literally as a kid would be an understatement.
When I was in kindergarten, a third-grader on the school bus told me that I would get free candy if I showed my middle finger to the bus driver. “That’s all I have to do to get free candy?” I thought. Sign me up! The bus driver looks in her rearview mirror and sees me flipping her the bird as I smile ear to ear. Do you think there was any candy in my future?
Nope.
