The road to ElkMania 3, held ten days ago, was littered with obstacles. That in itself is par for the course when it comes to independent wrestling, however, political pressure reared its ugly head.

When I first heard that four of the five Star Wars novels that were released on Force Friday were being marketed as Young Adult books, I stereotypically dismissed the idea of reading them due to my fear of pale moody Jedi sparking Sith Lords.
However, one of the books titled Lost Stars has received a lot of praise, with many calling it the best of the new canon novels. I don’t even know why these books were labeled YA.
In its simplest form, the story follows two star-crossed lovers trying to find their place in the universe, all while serving the Empire. The success, misfortune, and bedlam coupled with youth’s intense and raw emotion produced a mature and thought-provoking narrative along with interesting characters that have depth. Seth Rollins will not only defend the U.S. title against John Cena at Night of Champions, but on the very same night he will also defend the World Heavyweight title against Sting. Yes, in 2015, Sting, the franchise player of World Championship Wrestling (WCW), is headlining a WWE pay-per-view. The odds aren’t in his favor to walk out of Houston with the gold due to his age and the fact that he has been only wrestling part-time. The thing is, though, that he needs to win the title. Last Friday, my journey to Star Wars: The Force Awakens kicked off in style as the first wave of merchandise was made available for the first time. I decided to take advantage of this by attending one of the midnight release events so I could be one of the first to score some of the new action figures…….I mean collectibles.
One of my favorite things about Star Wars is its wide variety of space ships. The Hasbro toy company sells these vast vehicles as a part of their catalog, however, they can be a little pricey. In the upcoming film, there is an orange and black X-Wing fighter that is available for $80.00 retail.
Spending eighty large on one thing could limit the amount of items one can buy. I found a much cheaper and quality alternative courtesy of the Revell model manufactures SnapTite Build & Play kit. No glue, no tools, no paint, batteries included and easy to assemble, the finished product has great detail and makes for an excellent display piece.

It seems that the sins of the past may have caught up James Wiley Smith, otherwise known as “Superfly” Jimmy Snuka. The 72-year-old legend was recently diagnosed with stomach cancer and now he has a prison sentence hanging over his head. On Tuesday, Snuka was charged with third-degree with murder and involuntary manslaughter for the 1983 death of his girlfriend, Nancy Argentino. I was going to write a blog about this, but the excellent ponderings of the Boston Garden Balcony beat me to it. The Barclays Center in Brooklyn is slowly becoming WWE’s new favorite playhouse in the Empire State. No one can minimize the historical importance of Madison Square Garden, but building renovations and a heightened price tag on the arena rental is starting to chip away at the aura that makes the Garden special.
Back in the day, Gorilla Monsoon used to remind us that Madison Square Garden was the “Mecca of professional wrestling.” And for good reason: In the 1970s and ’80s, many of the WWF’s singles titles changed hands in the arena, and some of the biggest bouts of that era occurred there.
But it’s been a long time since MSG hosted any major angle or title change, and this past weekend’s SummerSlam extravaganza at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn — three sold-out nights there — has perhaps cemented that building as the new home base of the WWE in New York City.

I haven’t reviewed a comic book in a while. So I jumped at the opportunity when my editor at Forces of Geek.com asked me to write an advanced review of ‘Hellboy in Hell #7.’

Another SummerSlam is in the books, and overall, it was a good show. One of the matches featured Ryback defeating The Miz and Big Show to retain the Intercontinental title. However, it was a far cry from the classics of yesteryear.
Just like WrestleMania is known for its world title matches, a hallmark of SummerSlam was the stellar Intercontinental Title bouts. They weren’t just great in-ring spectacles, but they often served as a defining moment for a wrestler’s career.
Bret Hart’s impressive back-to-back performances for the coveted title played a prominent role in ascension to the main event scene.
Many long for the days when “the biggest party of the summer” produced unforgettable IC Title matches.

“The Maniacal” Jack Krueger emerged victorious in last year’s Elkmania tournament as he used deplorable tactics to defeat Salem’s Derek Simonetti. After months of negotiations, Krueger agreed to the rematch, but only on his terms. These terms dictates that the match had to take place at Elkmania 3, signifying the one year anniversary of the humiliation he inflicted on Simonetti, and that the match be a no-rules street fight.
