Jeff Hardy Arrested for DUI, Again

Jeff Hardy is once again the hot topic in wrestling for the wrong reasons. Sadly, we’ve heard this story before.

Jeff Hardy was arrested Monday morning in Florida for driving under the influence. Hardy was driving with a suspended license as several motorists called 911 as he was seen swerving all over the highway.

Video of the arrest shows Hardy admitting to officers that he drank a fireball before getting behind the wheel. He also mentioned he has an upcoming doctor’s appointment for a “brain scan.”

Interim Titles: A History Lesson

AEW’s path to crown an interim world champion is clear. Last Wednesday on Dynamite, #1 contender Jon Moxley beat Casino Battle Royal winner Kyle O’Reilly in a good back-and-forth contest. O’Reilly’s battle royal win was surprisingly damned with faint praise in the crowd and online. He’s a good wrestler, but some find the Undisputed Elite member boring.

NJPW was in a similar situation with their half of the interim title equation. Hiroki Goto is a good wrestler, but some find him dull as a character. No one expected Goto to beat Hiroshi Tanahashi at Dominion on Sunday, and they were right. Tanahashi pinned Goto in a highly engaging match despite the result never really being in question.

Jon Moxley will face Hiroshi Tanahashi to determine the interim AEW World Champion at Forbidden Door on June 26 in Chicago. CM Punk’s injury put a damper on things, but hopefully, the interim title will begin to right the ship. Of course, the end game down the line is the interim titleist colliding with Punk to determine an undisputed champion.

Money in The Bank Switcheroo

Last week, WWE announced Money in the Bank would no longer occur at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. MGM Grand Garden Arena will now host the premium live event. Reportedly, lower-than-expected ticket sales caused the shift in venue.

WrestlingObserver.com reported that WWE decided two weeks before they sent an email to ticket holders on 5/26 notifying them of the change. Original patrons get first dibs for new tickets on June 3. However, there is a catch.

Sasha Banks & Naomi Suspended Indefinitely by WWE

Sasha Banks and Naomi are trending for all the wrong reasons. WWE announced on SmackDown this evening that Sasha Banks and Naomi are indefinitely suspended and stripped of the Women’s Tag Team Championship.

WWE dedicated an entire segment to the announcement where Micheal Cole noted Sasha and Naomi’s walkout on Raw as the reason for their suspension and buried them, saying they “let us all down” and “disappointed millions of fans.”

Roman Reigns’ Summer Vacation

The big news in professional wrestling right now is all about Roman Reigns. On Saturday, at a WWE non-televised event in Trenton, New Jersey, Roman’s uncharacteristic post-match promo sparked retirement rumors.

“I’ve been here a couple of times in the past 10 years.” Reigns said. “I’m starting to work into a new phase in my career, and I honestly don’t know if I’ll be back here again. If that’s the case, I just want to say thank you for all these years of support.”

Sgt. Slaughter Returns to G.I. Joe

Sgt. Slaughter has signed a new multi-year deal with Hasbro to get back into the fight with G.I. Joe. The Hall of Famer appeared on the latest Hasbro Pulse streaming event and revealed his first figure in the popular 6-inch collectors’ line, G.I. Joe Classified. Hasbro officials showed an image of the figure based on his appearance in the 1987 animated film G.I. Joe: The Movie.

What Do The Latest Round of NXT Roster Cuts Tell Us?

The annual post WrestleMania roster cuts focused on NXT as ten names; eight wrestlers, one manager, and one referee were released on Friday.

Dakota Kai, Malcolm Bivens, Harland, Dexter Lumis, Persia Pirotta, Draco Anthony, Blair Baldwin (referee), Vish Kanya, Mila Milani, and Raelyn DIvine.

All of the wrestlers have a 30-day non-compete clause.
