Guess Who’s Back: Vince McMahon Returns to WWE

“I would like to be clear that unless I have direct involvement and input as Executive Chairman from the outset, I will not be able to support or approve any media rights deals or strategic transaction” – Vince McMahon 12/31/22

This response above is the loaded gun Vince McMahon threatened the WWE Board of Directors with to facilitate his return to the company. And he’s not coming alone. Michelle Wilson and George Barrios, former company co-presidents and WWE Network architects McMahon fired three years ago, are coming with him.

This follows Thursday’s news by the Wall Street Journal that McMahon was plotting his return to WWE in order to pursue a sale and be involved in the company’s upcoming media rights deals.

Vince McMahon Steps Down as WWE CEO. Still Helms Creative

The investigation of Vince McMahon and hush-money payments takes another drastic turn. WWE announced early Friday that McMahon has voluntarily stepped down as WWE Chairman and CEO, but he will still maintain his responsibilities helming creative content.

Stephanie McMahon will immediately return early from her leave of absence to assume the role of interim CEO. Once the investigation concludes, Vince will reassume the Chairman and CEO roles.

On the same day Vince McMahon has stepped down, he will appear on tonight’s episode of SmackDown at 8:00 PM on Fox. Wow, there is a lot to unpack here.

The Undertaker enters the 2017 Royal Rumble

The Undertaker returned to Raw on Monday and announced that he would be entering the 2017 Royal Rumble. The announcement was made during the top of the show’s second hour where Stephanie McMahon threatened GM Mick Foley with the possible loss of his job if ‘The Deadman’ didn’t appear.

Raw emanated from New Orleans where the Phenom’s WrestleMania streak was broken. Undertaker mentioned this to a course of boos and followed up with that he’s dug 29 holes for 29 souls. Undertaker closed the segment by vowing to win the Rumble and return to the main event of WrestleMania.

Brock Lesanr Doesn’t Care What You Think

“I don’t give two sh*ts about that. This is about me. I want to get in there and be an athlete again. That’s what this is about.” This was a response from Brock Lesnar during a UFC media conference call on Thursday when asked about his drawing power in pro wrestling diminished if he lost to Mark Hunt at UFC 200.

Shane McMahon’s Shocking Return to WWE

Wow, what a turn of events that occurred on Raw this past Monday! Shane McMahon made his unexpected return to WWE after a 6-year absence and received one of the loudest audience reactions in recent memory. If that wasn’t shocking enough, Shane will stand inside Hell in a Cell across the ring from The Undertaker at WrestleMania in a featured bout that absolutely needs to close the show.

In a segment where life imitated art, Shane put Stephanie McMahon on blast for the company’s falling stock prices, low television ratings, and the string of wrestler injuries. The Air-Jordan-wearing executive also stated that he “never lost his place in line,” which is contrary to why Shane reportedly left WWE in October of 2009.

Stephanie McMahon Stole The Show on Raw

The corrupt authority figure is an exhausted crutch in the storytelling that is a part of professional wrestling. While many have assumed the position, few have flourished in the role. Vince McMahon was the best in this situation because not only does he really own WWE, but more importantly, he is not afraid to show his ass…sometimes literally. I have to give props to Stephanie McMahon for her performance as of late. Triple H never shows weakness or vulnerability, so his character is easy to tune out.
