Cody Rhodes put on one of the gutsiest performances ever seen in a wrestling ring, making it one of the all-time great matches. Gruesome imagery and sheer anguish made for an engaging yet uncomfortable watch that made an indelible impression on wrestling fans.

Sasha Banks & Naomi Walkout of Raw

The big story coming out of WWE Raw involves Women’s Tag Team Champions Sasha Banks and Naomi as they legitimately walked out on the show. Fightful.com reported that Sasha Banks was not happy with how she would be booked for the evening.

The crew from the Broken But Glorious Podcast from England recently invited me on as a guest. We reviewed WWE Hell in a Cell, Sami Zayn’s heel turn, Charlotte’s potential match with Ronda Rousey and they even interview me a bit about my experience as an independent wrestler.
The show is regularly hosted by Chris Lappin and Nick Davie and we were also joined by author of “A Fan’s Perspective: 2016 – What A Year To Be A Fan Of WWE & One Man’s Exploration of British Wrestling,” Oliver Newman.
History and Doubt Equals Opportunity at Hell in a Cell
From the midnight ride of Paul Revere to the Red Sox breaking the 86-year Curse of the Bambino, Boston is no stranger to historic moments occurring on its shores. Another such moment, on a different scale, is set to occur on October 30 as Sasha Banks vs. Charlotte will be the first ever women’s match to take place inside of Hell in a Cell, at the TD Garden.
Mick Foley upped the ante when he announced Tuesday morning on Facebook that Sasha Banks and Charlotte will main event Hell in a Cell. Later on, Foley deflated the balloon of excitement when he clarified that the match order for the show is not yet final.
If the match ends up being the main event, it would be the first time that a women’s match has gone on last during a WWE Pay-Per-View. Continue reading “History and Doubt Equals Opportunity at Hell in a Cell”
Shane McMahon’s Shocking Return to WWE
Wow, what a turn of events that occurred on Raw this past Monday! Shane McMahon made his unexpected return to WWE after a 6-year absence and received one of the loudest audience reactions in recent memory. If that wasn’t shocking enough, Shane will stand inside Hell in a Cell across the ring from The Undertaker at WrestleMania in a featured bout that absolutely needs to close the show.
In a segment where life imitated art, Shane put Stephanie McMahon on blast for the company’s falling stock prices, low television ratings, and the string of wrestler injuries. The Air-Jordan-wearing executive also stated that he “never lost his place in line,” which is contrary to why Shane reportedly left WWE in October of 2009.
Raw Ratings Suffer Despite Star Studded Lineup
WWE brought out the big guns this week in order to prevent what could have been a historically bad rating for Monday Night Raw. While the ratings did improve from last week’s record low number of 3.27 million viewers, it was only a slight increase to 3.35 million viewers. Even with the combined competition they faced, WWE can’t be happy with an increase of only 80,000 viewers considering the big names they had on the show. Did Ambrose vs. Rollins Deliver?
My friends and I get together to watch the big four WWE pay-per-view events and tend not to care about the other eight events, otherwise known as the B-Shows. With the WWE Network, I watch these shows even though I didn’t before. On Sunday, afternoon, I received a phone call from my friend Ryan telling me he was having a get together at his house for Hell in a Cell, again, which is a B-Show.
There was only one reason why we were getting together for a show that we would normally ignore. Dean Ambrose vs. Seth Rollin, in the main event, inside the Cell. This was the first feud that I had been legitimately excited for in a while. I mean, how could this match go wrong? Well, some feel the match delivered tenfold while others believe it left a lot to be desired.
I wrote an article breaking down the match for the Camel Clutch Blog titled “Gimmicks in a Cell”
Remember When Mick Foley Fell off The Cell?
Do you remember where you were when the Undertaker threw Mankind off the top of the Hell in a Cell? I do, and I’ll never forget it. It was the June of 1998 and I had just finished my junior year of high school. King of the Ring was moments away, and I had earned a little extra money with my summer job in order to purchase it on pay-per-view.

I Know How To Beat Ryback
(Column I wrote for gerweck.net)
Ryback vs. CM Punk headlines the Hell in a Cell Pay-Per-View event this Sunday. The WWE has booked themselves into a tight little corner because they played the Ryback card way too soon. In contemporary wrestling where wins and losses don’t matter, Ryback’s undefeated streak is everything. If he loses under any circumstance, the gimmick is dead and he is just another superstar on the roster.
In my opinion, let him win the title. He is over and as long as you don’t mess with his formula of destroying people, he will continue to be over for quite some time. While the common wisdom suggests Ryback must win, there has to be a creative way for him to be pinned without losing his momentum. I’m going to have a little fun with this and put on my booking hat and throw out an idea that could work.
