New Japan Pro Wrestling held the opening rounds of the 23rd annual Best of the Super Juniors Tournament over the weekend. This year, sixteen wrestlers were split into two separate round robin tournament blocks (A & B), where a wrestler scores two points for winning, one point for a draw, and zero points for losing.

The two wrestlers with the most points in their respective blocks will face each other in the finals on June 7th where the winner, sans KUSHIDA who is the current champ, will receive an IWGP Jr Heavyweight title match.

I super excited for this year’s tournament because it’s the first time I can watch the matches live on New Japan Pro Wrestling’s streaming service www.newjapanworld.com. In the past, I would have to either wait about after the tournament to watch it on DVD or stumble upon on upload on Youtube.  Continue reading “New Japan’s Best of the Super Juniors Night 1 & 2 Report”

What is your favorite wrestling match? This is the single hardest question for any enthusiast of the squared circle to answer. There have been so many legendary nights over the years that it’s hard to narrow it down to just one.

Over the next ten weeks I’m going to write about my ten favorite wrestling matches of all-time. The listings will be in no particular order as I’ve given up on trying to rank every match in specific fashion. Now I just enjoy them as fun collection.

  • Finn Balor moving up from NXT to WWE’s main roster?
  • Will “The Club” transition to become the Balor Club?
  • Is ROH relying too much on New Japan Pro Wrestling?
  • The Bullet Club’s current happenings with Adam Cole joining their ranks.
  • nWo’s influence on these factions and more.

You can check out The Raw Deal, Breaking Raw and more on the official You Tube Channel of Gerweck.net: Pro Wrestling Since 1997.

The Club: Good or Bad name for WWE’s New Faction?

WWE is using “The Club” for the new faction comprised of AJ Styles, Luke Gallows, and Karl Anderson. The name is a reference the trio’s time in as the Bullet Club, which is still a popular IP being used in New Japan Pro Wrestling and ROH.

On Breaking Raw, Adam Kohn and I discuss whether or not “The Club” is a fitting name, the first step in a larger design, or just plain lazy. If you like what you hear please visit the official You Tube channel of Gerweck.net for more great pro wrestling content.

PWInsider.com reported that WWE has parted ways with Steve Lombardi, otherwise known as the Brooklyn Brawler, after 30 years of being in the company’s employ. Does Big Cass Need Better Promo Skills?

Last week on Monday Night Raw, Big Cass had to go it alone on the microphone due to the injury Enzo Amore suffered at WWE Payback. Some feel Big Cass did well on his own while others share the opposite opinion. Adam Kohn and I debate this topic on the official Raw aftershow of Gerweck.net, Breaking Raw!
