Manchester by the Sea (Mini-Review)

mbts

My wife and I, along with two of our good friends, recently saw the critically acclaimed film Manchester by the Sea in one of those deluxe movie theaters with reclining leather seats and a bar. While I prefer to be sober when watching a movie, perhaps I should have made an exception and go to my friend, Samuel Adams.  Continue reading “Manchester by the Sea (Mini-Review)” →

The Undertaker enters the 2017 Royal Rumble

undertakerroyalrumble

The Undertaker returned to Raw on Monday and announced that he would be entering the 2017 Royal Rumble. The announcement was made during the top of the show’s second hour where Stephanie McMahon threatened GM Mick Foley with the possible loss of his job if ‘The Deadman’ didn’t appear.

Raw emanated from New Orleans where the Phenom’s WrestleMania streak was broken. Undertaker mentioned this to a course of boos and followed up with that he’s dug 29 holes for 29 souls. Undertaker closed the segment by vowing to win the Rumble and return to the main event of WrestleMania.

This was an interesting appearance on a few fronts. Taker stated that he goes where he wants, wherever he wants, and that no one controls him, which heavily suggests that he’s not going to be tied to one specific brand.  Continue reading “The Undertaker enters the 2017 Royal Rumble” →

Brock Lesnar: Fined, Suspended, and it Stinks

BROCK

Former UFC heavyweight champion and current WWE superstar Brock Lesnar received a one-year suspension earlier today by the Nevada Athletic Commission due to two failed drug tests for his fight with Mark Hunt at UFC 200 this past July.

Lesnar also agreed to pay a fine of $250,000 in a settlement, which equals to 10% of his disclosed $2.5 million purse for the fight. His unanimous decision victory over Hunt has been officially overturned into a no contest.  Continue reading “Brock Lesnar: Fined, Suspended, and it Stinks” →

Goldberg Slays Lesnar with Rumble on the Horizon

20161120_survivorseries_goldberg1

If I told you that Goldberg would destroy Brock Lesnar in one minute and twenty-six seconds, you’d think I was crazy. Well, last Sunday, at Survivor Series, that is exactly what happened as a sold-out crowd at the Air Canada Centre applauded the swift destruction of the beast incarnate.

While you couldn’t tell by listening to the live audience reaction, opinion online is split down the middle at the result. Some absolutely loved the Tyson like the finish while others felt ripped off because they expected the usual 15 – 20 minute back and forth match. The Journey to Star Wars: Rogue One Begins with Catalyst

starwarscatalyst

“Where’s Poe Dameron?” “Why did they recast Rey?” “How is Darth Vader alive?” These are the questions that Lucasfilm’s super weapon, the Disney marketing machine, haven’t been able to quell or answer for a fair amount of moviegoers as we’re now under thirty days away from the release of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

While the title’s subheading takes the place of confusing and detested words such as anthology, companion, or…prequel, acclaimed author James Luceno once again brings elegant cohesion to the political climate of the Star Wars universe by examining the passion and desire of two of the upcoming film’s main characters.

Catalyst tells the story of the connection between Imperial Commander Orson Krenic and energy scientist Galen Erso, played by Ben Mendelsohn and Mads Mikkelsen in the upcoming film, and how came together to create the first Death Star. Krenic’s manipulation of Erso spans from the Clone Wars and stops well into the Empire’s grip on the galaxy.

Krenic marvels himself as a clever over-achiever while those around him feel he’s talented but short-sighted and arrogant. While that may prove to be true in the movie, here, he has no qualms about playing the long game of deception as he desperately vies for a seat at the table…The Emperor’s table. Krenic is in charge of the project to construct a certain technological terror and needs Galen to make the super laser operational.

Alvarez fell into the Trap at UFC 205

ufc-205-alvarez-vs-mcgregor-horizontal-poster

Featherweight champion Conor McGregor made history last Saturday when he walloped Eddie Alvarez to become the Lightweight Champion, making him the first fighter in UFC history to hold two titles in two weight classes simultaneously.

The fight capped off a monumental night of fights as UFC 205 was the first event in New York since the statewide ban was lifted after a nearly 20-year political battle.

Eddie Alvarez was the test to prove once and for all whether Conor McGregor was fact or fiction. McGregor aced the exam with relative ease, but Alvarez didn’t execute the best game plan. Continue reading “Alvarez fell into the Trap at UFC 205” →

Favorite Matches #8: Bret Hart vs. Undertaker

27310

The Undertaker and Bret “Hitman” Hart are my two favorite wrestlers. Hart’s never give up attitude, despite not being the biggest, fastest or strongest, along with Taker being the unconventional hero to conquer the biggest threats when no one else could, were ideals that inspired me growing up.

I often flip-flop on who takes the number one spot on my list because it changes almost every day. They helped define a generation of wrestling by being two of the best storytellers to step into the ring. However, can you name their best match with one another?
