It’s Showtime Folks: Thought’s on Sting’s Return

It took 13 years, but Sting finally appeared on WWE television in an official capacity. Albeit it was in a commercial for the company’s 2K15 video game, but it was still cool to see something after months of speculation. Gamers will be happy to have the WCW icon as a full-fledged character in the game as opposed to taking tedious amounts of time to create him. I really enjoyed this commercial. The violinists playing Sting’s original crow theme as he emerged from the shadows was very well done. I can’t get that song out of my head as I’ve been humming it since Monday. The next logical step in this promotion’s progression should culminate with an in-ring appearance. Then again, that might be just a pipe dream. Saturday Night’s Main Event Comes To The WWE Network

The entire library of Saturday Night’s Main Events will be available on the WWE Network starting on Monday and it will give me a chance to relive some classic moments from my childhood. The show was primarily on NBC, with a two episodes airing on Fox in 1992. As a kid, I had to watch SNME on Sunday mornings because they were on past my bedtime. Sometimes, I would sneak out of bed, hide behind the door and listen to the matches since it was hard to fall asleep knowing wrestling was on. I’ve gone back and watched them all over the years, but the shows I saw during my initial fandom are the ones that I remember most.

Money in the Bank: Cashing in on Old Faithful

The WWE Network era produced another solid pay-per-view offering with Money in the Bank that gave us a firm direction of where we are heading this summer. There were some hits and misses throughout the evening, but John Cena winning his 15^th world title left some fans disillusioned citing, “Same old #&$@*.”.

WWE’s Forgotten Gem: The Grand Finale Match of Survival

Traditionally, Survivor Series is one of WWE’s big four pay-per-view events. Debuting in 1987, the show featured primarily team elimination matches. Sadly, the fall classic has lost its luster over the last several years.

The longtime fan in me will always have a soft spot for the event, especially when it aired on Thanksgiving night. 1990 is my favorite installment not only because it marks the debut of The Undertaker but also because of the main event, The Ultimate Match of Survival.

Ten Greatest WWE Tag Team Champions of All Time

Tag Team matches are a staple of professional wrestling. Sadly, their divisional significance is a far cry from its glory days in the ’80s and ’90s. These matches often steal the show, and the tag team champions’ prestige is the ultimate motivation. The four-person dynamic produces twice the action, leading to twice the drama of a singles match, especially double-team finishing maneuvers. Tag-team wrestling is an art form that is beautiful when done right. Many teams have held the titles over the years, but where do they rank? Who are the best of the best? The main event ladder match at this Sunday’s Money in the Bank pay-per-view will crown a new WWE World Heavyweight Champion and Amazon.com may have spoiled the ending. If you go to their website and pre order the Summer Slam Blu-ray, scheduled for a September 14^th release, the cover reveals that John Cena vs. Brock Lesnar will headline the biggest party of the summer. Thoughts on Bobby Lashley as TNA World Champion

Bobby Lashley became the new TNA World Heavyweight Champion, defeating Eric Young on Thursday, June 19th, during the latest episode of Impact Wrestling. I’ve had a few days to think about it, and I’m still unsure how I feel about it. This isn’t a bad thing by any means, but I wonder if this will be a good thing in the long-term.

ROH Best in the World’ 14 Delivers the Goods

Over the years, Ring of Honor has failed more times than it’s seceded when speaking to my preference of professional wrestling. Last night, that wasn’t an issue as Best in the World’ 14 exceeded my expectations by relating to the fan inside who watches wrestling for the actual wrestling. While there were some missteps along the way, the passion that ROH prides itself on was on full display as wrestlers worked incredibly hard to put on a show that people will remember.

Do You Know About The ROH Pay-Per-View This Weekend?

Ring of Honor will present their first live traditional pay-per-view event this Sunday night, but you probably forgot or perhaps you didn’t yet know about it. The promotion of this show hasn’t been bad, it’s virtually non-existent. I was in the boat of people who forgot this show was taking place until I was reminded via an interview with ROH commentator Kevin Kelly. The lack of promotion and makes me wonder if they even want us to watch this event. I can’t miss an update about their iPPV’s if I tried, but it’s a ghost town of information when it comes to Best in The World’ 14.
