If you watched WWF in the ’80s and ’90s, then you probably recognize the person pictured above in the glasses. His name is Vladimir, aka the superfan. He was wrestling’s equivalent to Where’s Waldo as he was a permanent fixture in the front row of the major events from Wrestlemania to SummerSlam. I remember seeing him at all those shows and just being in awe of how he got such good seats at every event and how cool it must have been to witness all of those spectacular matches in person.

The Good, the Bad and the Ugly of TNA Impact
The Good, the Bad and the Ugly of TNA Impact (Blog I wrote for gerweck.net)
The Good: The opening segment with Austin Aries delivered on all accounts, mainly because of Austin Aries. Yes, I know Vince cut him from Tough Enough before it began and some critics feel he is too small to be in a main event world title match on pay-per-view, but his in-ring work and charisma makes you forget about those things. He is one of the best workers on TNA’s roster and I expect him to take full advantage of his opportunity at Destination X which will be the most important match of his career.

WTF Is Wrong With You TNA???
I try not to be one of those people who constantly bash TNA but their booking is at the height of idicoracy. Last night’s episode of Impact Wrestling was built around Sting trying to convince Dixie Carter to hire Hulk Hogan back to run the company. Sting must be suffering from Alzheimer’s and Dixie Carter must have the worst case of short term memory in human history. Why would remotely you consider having Hulk Hogan run your company after the year he just put you through? Oh, you don’t remember? Let’s take a stroll down memory lane, shall we?
Confessions of a Wrestling Superfan: Chapter 1: The Beginning at the Garden

To say I was a wrestling fan growing up would be an understatement. I’m that superfan who can answer any piece of wrestling trivia you can throw at me. I was hooked from the moment I saw my first episode of WWF Superstars on WLVI 56 Boston. Every wrestling figure of any kind was safely tucked away in my toy chest, and wrestling t-shirts were a normal part of my wardrobe.
Almost all of my friends were closet wrestling fans since it was taboo at the time. The slightest hint of being a wrestling fan came with public ridicule with the most popular remarks consisting of “I can’t believe you watch that stuff” and, of course, the dreaded “Don’t you know wrestling is fake?”.

Changing Names won’t IMPACT TNA’s Product
by Ryan Andrews
As of May 12th, TNA will become Impact Wrestling. Apparently, the higher-ups think that a rebranding will breathe new life into their product and attract wrestling fans that feel WWE is moving away from its core product by shortening their name (and in doing so, dropping the word “Wrestling”). Unfortunately for TNA, I feel that their product will remain the same thanks to their writers (specifically Vince Russo), their ignorant-to-the-business-owner (Dixie Carter), and of course their over-the-hill your-prime-ENDED-over-a-decade-ago talents (starting with Hulk Hogan, and of course the list could go on forever).

In Hulk Hogan we Trust !?
I talk to a lot of casual wrestling fans. They watch TNA and get excited when they see the Hulkster on their screen. Once they listen and realize he is a heel who is trying to run the company for his personal gain, they change the channel. Hulk Hogan as a heel is not entertaining television in 2011.
The NWO days of 1996 are long gone. Hulk Hogan is way into the twilight of his career. At 57 years old, he can barely move and wears a back brace. If you saw him on American Idol, he could barely throw a punch. The majority of TNA’s fans are “smart” fans. They know all of this and will have zero faith in a Hogan vs. Sting program, which seems to be the direction they are going in.
Hulkamania has arrived in TNA !?!?
It’s official folks. Hulk Hogan has signed with TNA wrestling and will be invading your television screens on Thursday nights. This, without question, is the one move TNA needed to make an attempt at becoming a serious player. Hogan is the biggest name in the history of the business. He is the first name people think of when they hear the term “professional wrestling”. TNA wrestling over time has developed into a not so quality product. I know there are some hardcore TNA fans that love the product with a passion. Some have even told me their pay-per-views are “equal to Wrestlemania in every PPV”. TNA has some of the best wrestlers in the world but their booking is awful. I compare it to SNL. They have some great talent on their cast. But the show hasn’t been funny in years.
