WWE’s Forgotten Gem: The Grand Finale Match of Survival

Traditionally, Survivor Series is one of WWE’s big four pay-per-view events. Debuting in 1987, the show featured primarily team elimination matches. Sadly, the fall classic has lost its luster over the last several years.

The longtime fan in me will always have a soft spot for the event, especially when it aired on Thanksgiving night. 1990 is my favorite installment not only because it marks the debut of The Undertaker but also because of the main event, The Ultimate Match of Survival.

Ten Greatest WWE Tag Team Champions of All Time

Tag Team matches are a staple of professional wrestling. Sadly, their divisional significance is a far cry from its glory days in the ’80s and ’90s. These matches often steal the show, and the tag team champions’ prestige is the ultimate motivation. The four-person dynamic produces twice the action, leading to twice the drama of a singles match, especially double-team finishing maneuvers. Tag-team wrestling is an art form that is beautiful when done right. Many teams have held the titles over the years, but where do they rank? Who are the best of the best? Spoiler Alert: John Cena vs. Brock Lesnar at Summer Slam!?!?

The main event ladder match at this Sunday’s Money in the Bank pay-per-view will crown a new WWE World Heavyweight Champion and Amazon.com may have spoiled the ending. If you go to their website and pre order the Summer Slam Blu-ray, scheduled for a September 14^th release, the cover reveals that John Cena vs. Brock Lesnar will headline the biggest party of the summer. To say that Daniel Bryan had crap luck as WWE Champion would be an understatement. 64 days of personal loss, dismal follow up from the writers and a neck injury culminated on Raw when Triple H and Stephanie McMahon stripped him of the title. Believe in Seth Rollins

Seth Rollins was the catalyst for the heel turn heard round the world on Monday night. The Shield’s domination of Evolution at WWE Payback was their Mount Everest. As a trio, there was nowhere else to go but down. Divorce was inevitable, and Rollins served the papers via a steel chair to the back. The hounds of justice are presumably no more and the end result begs the question; was Seth Rollins the right guy to break up the band. Yes, he was.

Batista is the Victim

Vince McMahon is used to getting his way but apparently, Batista didn’t get the memo. Reports have surfaced regarding “The Animal’s” refusal to wrestle Daniel Bryan at WWE’s upcoming Payback pay-per-view. Wrestlers refusing to put people over is nothing new, however, Batista deserves a pass on any flack he is receiving for refusing the match. Remembering the Ultimate Warrior

Once again, the hand of death keeps chipping away at my childhood and makes me question my own mortality. Last night, the Ultimate Warrior suddenly passed away at the age of 54 years old. Three days of traveling, celebrating a legendary career and happiness with his family, and now he’s gone. The timing of this is so eerie and sad on a multitude of levels. WWE Elimination Chamber 2014: Shield/Wyatts Steal the Show

The Elimination Chamber was the last major stop on the road to WrestleMania and it left a mixed bag of results with the good heavily outweighing the mediocre. This also marks the end of the traditional PPV era as future shows will air on the WWE Network. I think it’s fitting that it went out with a good main event and great hope for the future.
