Report: Undertaker vs. Roman Reigns Scheduled to Close out WrestleMania

One thing that you got to love about WrestleMania weekend is the rumor mill regarding the event. Earlier in the week, the WWE Universal Championship between Goldberg and Brock Lesnar was expected to close out the show on Sunday.

Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer is in Orlando for all of the festivities going on around town. According to the famed reporter, the probable match to close out WrestleMania will be Undertaker vs. Roman Reigns.

My first reaction is what about Randy Orton? You know, the winner of the Royal Rumble? Then I calmed down and remembered that the Rumble winner hasn’t really been guaranteed the main event spot for several years now. Besides, the Orton/Wyatt feud has cooled down considerably.

WWE is notorious for changing their plans at the drop of a hat, however, Taker vs. Reigns getting the nod means that confidence is low in Goldberg vs. Lesnar being anything special. Goldberg probably can’t go more than ten minutes, and doing a squash match in Lesnar’s favor to get his heat back, is not a suitable scenario for the main event of WrestleMania.  Continue reading “Report: Undertaker vs. Roman Reigns Scheduled to Close out WrestleMania”

Updates Card for WrestleMania 33: Styles vs. McMahon and More

wwe-wrestlemania-33-poster-237084

WWE Television this week saw five more matches made official for WrestleMania 33 line-up for a total of eleven matches. Three of the matches were leaked online a few months ago, one was heavily implied last week and the last match wasn’t too surprising.

Undertaker vs. Roman Reigns:  Will Taker slay another victim or is Reigns going to put down the Deadman? If Reigns goes over, will WWE try to keep him as a babyface or will they flip the script and go full on heel with the Roman Empire? This will end up being one of the most anticipated matches on the card because we have no idea who is going to win.

Wrestling is always better that way!   Continue reading “Updates Card for WrestleMania 33: Styles vs. McMahon and More”

Thought’s on Rumored WrestleMania Plans

Now that the Royal Rumble is in the rear view mirror, everyone wants to know what’s going to happen on April 2 when WrestleMania 33 WrestleMania emanates from the Camping World Stadium in Orlando, FL.

The rumored card, and I stress rumored, card has made its way online with several web sites and various sources confirming what WWE creative (i.e. Vince McMahon) has planned for this year’s showcase of the immortals.

As of right now, only one half of a match is officially confirmed. Royal Rumble winner Randy Orton will face the WWE Champion. John Cena is the current title holder, but another wrestler is heavily rumored to hold the gold by the time WrestleMania rolls around.

Top Five Royal Rumble Eliminations

The Royal Rumble match always treats fans to some fun over the top rope eliminations. One elimination, in particular, saw Braun Strowman hurl the ill-suited James Ellsworth out of the ring with a chokeslam that sent him crashing to the floor, hip first.

Seeing this hip-crushing ejection got me thinking of some of the memorable Rumble match eliminations over the years that have stuck with me. Some made for great moments while others served as the kick-off to a bitter feud. Then there are those that are just plain terrible.  Continue reading “Top Five Royal Rumble Eliminations”

Favorite Matches #8: Bret Hart vs. Undertaker

The Undertaker and Bret “Hitman” Hart are my two favorite wrestlers. Hart’s never give up attitude, despite not being the biggest, fastest or strongest, along with Taker being the unconventional hero to conquer the biggest threats when no one else could, were ideals that inspired me growing up.

I often flip-flop on who takes the number one spot on my list because it changes almost every day. They helped define a generation of wrestling by being two of the best storytellers to step into the ring. However, can you name their best match with one another? Shane McMahon’s Shocking Return to WWE

shanemcmahonundertaker

Wow, what a turn of events that occurred on Raw this past Monday! Shane McMahon made his unexpected return to WWE after a 6-year absence and received one of the loudest audience reactions in recent memory. If that wasn’t shocking enough, Shane will stand inside Hell in a Cell across the ring from The Undertaker at WrestleMania in a featured bout that absolutely needs to close the show.

In a segment where life imitated art, Shane put Stephanie McMahon on blast for the company’s falling stock prices, low television ratings, and the string of wrestler injuries. The Air-Jordan-wearing executive also stated that he “never lost his place in line,” which is contrary to why Shane reportedly left WWE in October of 2009.

John Cena Returning Soon?

Raw Ratings Suffer Despite Star Studded Lineup

austin

WWE brought out the big guns this week in order to prevent what could have been a historically bad rating for Monday Night Raw. While the ratings did improve from last week’s record low number of 3.27 million viewers, it was only a slight increase to 3.35 million viewers. Even with the combined competition they faced, WWE can’t be happy with an increase of only 80,000 viewers considering the big names they had on the show.  Continue reading “Raw Ratings Suffer Despite Star Studded Lineup”

The highly anticipated trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens will premiere this evening during halftime of the Giants vs. Eagles Monday Night Football Game on ESPN. The game officially starts  at 8:15 PM EST and the trailer is expected to air between 9:45pm and 10:00 PM. While this is great news for Star Wars fans, this could be horrible news for WWE.  Continue reading “Will Raw Feel a Disturbance in the Force?”

The Undertaker is One of My All-Time Favorites

IMG_1772

The Undertaker is tied with Bret Hart as my all-time favorite wrestler. While his dark side persona has gained him fame the world over, he represented something else to me. The giants of the squared circle often apply dastardly tactics while using their size advantage to steal victories. Taker started the same but quickly became something different, something more.  Continue reading “The Undertaker is One of My All-Time Favorites”
